We SURVIVED the First Week of School!
I had a fantastic first week back to school, and I hope the students feel the same way. I'm looking forward to a great year!
Students have been introduced to the iRead program and should come prepared with a book starting Monday. Students can use books from home, check out books from my classroom, the school library, or the public library. Magazines, graphic novels, all genres of fiction novels, informational texts, etc. are acceptable reading material. And don't forget about the "book equivalency". Students cannot count most picture books for the iRead program. Any questions, come check with me.
Remember the only homework for Language Arts is to read daily. The book tracker was handed out Friday. This should be completed each day and handed in every Friday for a grade. PLEASE encourage your students to read at home. There is a direct correlation between time spent reading and reading ability.
I have most of the disclosures returned. Thank you! I also want to give a big THANK YOU for theiRead program donations. Our department is very thankful. This program can't happen without support from you. The students will love the reading incentives as they participate in the iRead program. All donations are accepted.
