Week one is done and in the books. We started our first class novel. We learned about classroom procedures through a procedure puzzle match and demo. We covered our classroom disclosures, and I started learning names. This next week we will be getting set up for the rest of the school year with things like benchmarks, notebooks, Google Classroom, Flipgrid, and the iRead program. I will also be conferencing with students individually during benchmarking to help them choose a book from our classroom library. If they have a book that they have started reading, they need to bring it every day to class.
I am looking forward to meeting you at our Back-to-School night this Tuesday. We will cover the iRead program in detail. If you are not able to make it, however, the hand out will be posted on this blog Tuesday night. The most important thing to remember is that students should be reading at home 30 minutes EVERY DAY.
